About

Hi! I am Laura Minnigerode, founder of Listening For Good.

I live in Austin, Texas with my family, which includes 3 children and 3 dogs. Being a parent has brought me a lot of challenges and also the opportunity to grow into a new version of myself. Hand in Hand Parenting has been a big part of making that possible.

My background is in educational research and classroom teaching. I have always been fascinated by the way in which humans develop and the role that our emotions play. Being a support person for human emotion is such a great honor. I find that working with parents of new babies and parents of teenagers is especially rewarding. Teenagers and babies are both developing in ways that make for flexible neural development and the need for safety to experience emotions.

I have a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and teaching credentials to teach elementary and secondary grades. I am a registered trainer for early childhood educators, with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System. I also a certified instructor of infant massage, infant mental health practitioner, and certified Hand in Hand Parenting instructor.

My experience with Hand in Hand Parenting goes back a long way. I received materials written by Patty Wipfler when I took a parenting class as a new mother in 2001. These powerful listening tools have helped me to hold space and listen through so many times when it seemed it could not be possible to listen. Hand in Hand Parenting has given me the gift of Learning to listen with all the love in my heart. It has made it possible for me to become closer to being the parent I want to be.
